EP Fans – about the initiative
EP Fans is an educational and integration initiative bringing together the community of cardiologists and electrophysiologists from all over Europe, aimed at the exchange of scientific knowledge and clinical experience in the field of diagnostics and therapy of cardiac arrhythmias.
Under the banner of EP Fans, electrophysiology enthusiasts will find the latest knowledge and reports on arrhythmias. Specialists will have the opportunity to present and learn about the clinical experiences of various European centers, share comments on the latest reports in their field and be up to date with technological novelties used and verified in current clinical practice.
The aim of the EP Fans initiative is to promote the fields of electrophysiology and electrotherapy in the cardiological environment and to support the educational mission of electrophysiology cardiologists based on the latest medical knowledge and new technologies used in clinical practice. The project is going to be a platform for discussion of specialists on the directions of development of electrophysiology and electrotherapy today and in the future. The aim is to integrate grass-roots educational initiatives of EP centers in Poland and other European countries and to support them in extending the scope of promoting knowledge and exchanging experiences in the area of this specialization.
As part of the EP Fans initiative, a scientific conference, various interviews and expert comments, and multimedia materials will be prepared and organized, and an invitation will be sent to representatives of various centers to develop and share their own case studies with EP labs in this area. The launch of the project is scheduled for November 2021.
The EP Fans is a long-term project. The platform integrating educational and integration activities under the initiative will be a dedicated website and profiles in social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube)
Each time the content posted on the official channels of EP Fans will be verified by a specialist in the field of electrophysiology, so that the project is characterized by the highest quality and reliability of positioned messages.

Prof. Artur Baszko: Ablation procedures in congenital heart diseases
Ablation procedures in congenital heart diseases are a challenge not only for the complexity of anatomical substrate, but also due to the limited access to the heart. A vascular access for the electrophysiological study (EPS) is most commonly obtained via the femoral vein. Therefore transseptal catheters and electrodes are adapted to this access type. However, […]
Warto, by operatorzy cechowali się otwartością: poznawali i weryfikowali w praktyce klinicznej różne podejścia, krytycznie oceniali poszczególne teorie i strategie procedur. W nowoczesnej edukacji medycznej odchodzi się od modelu Eminence Based Medicine. Ten trend zawitał także do Polski […]

Dr Bartłomiej Bińkowski speaks about the key to quick and accurate diagnosis and ablation of reentrant atrial tachycardia. Let’s watch!
How would you proceed?
47- yo male with a history of palpitations for last 27 years. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) has been documented in the previous ECG. He was referred for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). At resting ECG no signs of preexcitation were present. During EPS dual atrioventricular nodal physiology was excluded. Later during incremental ventricular pacing AF occured. […]
The third part of the EP Fans animated handbook
Hello, today I would like to present the one of the most important maneuvers which can help to determine presence of accessory pathway, especially the accessory pathway in the area of bundle of His – says Dr. Michal Peller, Warszawski Uniwersytet Medyczny – WUM. We invite you to the third part of the EP Fans […]
What kind of arrhythmia might it be? Check our second EP riddle!
A 70-year-old male was admitted to the hospital due to palpitations, dyspnea and decreased exercise tolerance during the last 2 months. The past ECGs were interpreted by the GP as sinus tachycardia resistant to medical treatment. The patient was treated with maximal tolerated doses of bisoprolol 10mg, although tachycardia 110/min persisted, and the patient was referred […]
Biophysics of ablation – a profitable investment for EP operators
A science that combines physics and physiology seems to be the essential background of knowledge concerning cardiac electrophysiology, but its importance does not decrease with the development of this specialization. Thorough knowledge of biophysics can play a decisive role in the safety and efficacy of the underlying arrhythmia ablation procedures performed. Investing an excessive amount […]

Bipolar ablation – an inspiring past, a promising future
Although its idea has been known for more than 30 years, it is currently more widely used in clinical practice due to technical progress. Bipolar ablation may be the only practical alternative for a specific group of patients with heart rhythm disorders. Piotr Futyma, MD, PhD, Associate Professor at the University of Rzeszów and Cardiac […]
Pediatric Electrophysiology: same tools, a different strategy
Although in terms of anatomy, a child’s heart does not differ significantly from an adult’s heart, each organ has its specific characteristics from the electrophysiological point of view. What are the secrets of the youngest patients’ hearts and what should be remembered regarding electrophysiological diagnostics and therapy, reveals Artur Baszko, MD, PhD (2nd Department of […]
Steerable sheath – a gamechanger in complex left atrial ablations?

Anatomy – electrophysiologist’s superpower
The heart is a dynamic internal organ, the actual work of which constitutes the simultaneous activity of several hundred elements. In the case of diagnostics and therapy of cardiac arrhythmias, perfect knowledge of anatomy allows us to conduct diagnostic process and perform therapeutic interventions in a safe, efficient, and more effective way – argues Mateusz […]
Prof. Oskar Kowalski: ablations are becoming more effective and… gentle
Modern electrodes used in arrhythmia ablation procedures can collect not one but even a dozen or more electrical impulses in the heart during one cycle. 3D mapping systems analyze not 100 or 200 but tens of thousands of points in a short time. This makes it possible to treat even the most complex arrhythmias effectively. […]
